Tachwire reads a BMW built on the G platform — 2018 and newer, petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid or electric. The car is recognised from its VIN, so there is nothing to choose by hand.

Not a specification — a drive log from a real car, with the VIN read and the modules answering. Everything below this is expected to work rather than proven to.

In the catalogue — recognised from the VIN
The app matches the VIN, picks the profile and starts reading. If a signal your car does not have is asked for, the tile stays empty rather than showing a wrong number.

Adapters
Bluetooth LE only: an iPhone will not talk to a classic Bluetooth or Wi-Fi adapter, whatever the adapter can otherwise do.

What will not work
- BMW before the G platform — the F series and older. The signal maps are different and we have none for them yet.
- Other makes. Standard OBD readings would arrive; everything this app is for — oil, gearbox, hybrid, module data — would not.
- Classic Bluetooth and Wi-Fi adapters, as above.
